Simba a campsite in Ngorongoro conservation  One of the public campsites inside the Ngorongoro conservation area, that is located on the rim of the Ngorongoro crater. It is the largest and most frequently used in the area, due to its proximity to the Loduare gate where most tourists come from, and the crater.

The name ‘public’ referring to the fact that more than one unrelated person or group can use it at the same time, no pre-booking is required, and there are facilities available such as a kitchen, toilets and security. On the other hand, private campsites are exclusive, requiring prior booking before you get there and have no facilities or security available.

Simba A campsite has two of each facility, i.e. two dining areas, two kitchens two sets of toilets.

What to do there?Spend a night, especially after a long day in the crater or conservation area. The campsite is also a good place to be for those who would like to start roaming the park early.

Just remember to bring warm clothes, and a good sleeping bag/tent combo as it does get cold during the early hours of the morning.

Best time to visitAny time of the year, with more emphasis towards the December to February months, just after the short rains and when the wildebeest are in or near Ngorongoro.

Location of Simba a campsiteThe Simba A campsite is located on the south eastern crater rim of the Ngorongoro crater, and a short distance off the road that is headed to Olduvai gorge and Naabi hill gate. It also is within the Ngorongoro conservation area of Tanzania. For more information on its location, please see the map below.
