4. Detailed 4-day safari itinerary
Day 1: Nairobi to Masai Mara National Reserve
Approximate drive: 5–6 hours, depending on road and traffic conditions
Your Kenya wildlife safari begins with an early morning pick-up in Nairobi. After a short briefing, depart for the Masai Mara, travelling through the Great Rift Valley and onwards towards Narok.
Arrive at your selected camp or lodge for check-in and lunch, subject to the day’s schedule. In the afternoon, head out for your first Masai Mara game drive. Explore the reserve’s remarkable landscapes while searching for lions, elephants, giraffes, zebras and other wildlife.
Return to your accommodation for dinner and overnight.
Meals: Lunch and dinner, subject to the selected package.
Accommodation: Masai Mara tented camp or lodge.
Day 2: Full-day Masai Mara game drive
After breakfast, set out to explore the Masai Mara National Reserve on an extended game drive. Your safari guide will help you search for the famous African Big Five: lion, leopard, elephant, buffalo and rhino, although sightings cannot be guaranteed.
Depending on wildlife movements, route conditions and park access, your drive may include areas known for predators, grazing herds and the Mara River. During the Great Wildebeest Migration season, usually around July to October, large herds may move through the ecosystem; timing varies each year.
Enjoy a picnic lunch during the game drive before continuing your wildlife exploration. Return to camp in the evening for dinner and overnight.
Meals: Breakfast, lunch and dinner, subject to package.
Accommodation: Masai Mara tented camp or lodge.
Day 3: Masai Mara to Lake Nakuru
Long-distance transfer day
Enjoy an early start and, if included in your programme, a short morning game drive before breakfast. Check out and depart for Lake Nakuru, travelling through Kenya’s scenic Rift Valley region.
Stop for lunch en route, depending on the arrangement, and continue to Nakuru for check-in at your selected accommodation. If arrival time, park hours and the package schedule permit, an additional Lake Nakuru game drive may be arranged; otherwise, the main park visit takes place on Day 4.
Relax at the lodge or hotel in the evening.
Meals: As specified in your confirmed package.
Accommodation: Selected Nakuru hotel or lodge.
Day 4: Lake Nakuru safari and return to Nairobi
After breakfast, proceed to Lake Nakuru National Park for a wildlife drive. Look for endangered black and white rhinos, Rothschild’s giraffes, buffaloes, waterbucks and a variety of birds in the park’s different habitats. The lake’s birdlife and flamingo numbers change with water and food conditions.
Enjoy your final Kenyan wildlife experience before exiting the park and beginning the return journey to Nairobi. Arrival time depends on the length of the game drive, road conditions and traffic.
Your 4-day Masai Mara and Lake Nakuru safari ends with drop-off at your agreed Nairobi location.
Meals: Breakfast and lunch, depending on your selected package.
