Day 4

Amboseli National Park

Rise up early for good views of Mount Kilimanjaro before clouds build up over the summit. An optional visit to a Maasai village can then be planned after breakfast. Time spent with the Maasai people gives you an insight into the singing and dancing that are part of their daily lives and sacred rituals. No matter what, a glimpse into their homes and social structure is a poignant experience.

Despite its changing habitat, Amboseli National Park is still the best wildlife area in all of Africa to experience elephants at a close range. Day 8

Serengeti National Park

After breakfast, you will enjoy a full day in different parts of the Serengeti. All your meals and overnight stay will be at the Katikati Tented Camp.

The Central Serengeti offers superb game viewing all year-round due to its abundance of native animals. The Seronera River Valley in particular is a “must-see” on every safari regardless of the travel month. That said, game viewing in Central Serengeti is at its best during the dry season (June – November) since resident animals are more concentrated in the immediate area due to the lack of water on the plains. Resident herbivores include impala, buffalo, hippo, warthog, topi, hartebeest and giraffe. Resident carnivores include lions and leopards.

Day 9

Serengeti National Park – Ngorongoro Crater

Enjoy one more morning game driving in the Serengeti and then make your way to the Ngorongoro Crater after lunch. All your meals and overnight stay will be at the Ngorongoro Rhino Lodge.

There are several documented resident lion prides within a one-hour drive from the Seronera River Valley. During the dry season, the prides begin to shift west and north in their territories and concentrate in the central region of the park. The dry season is a particularly good time for lion viewing here! The Central Serengeti is also one of the best areas in Africa to spot the elusive leopard. You may be lucky enough to encounter this majestic cat in the branches of the sausage trees that dot the banks of the river.

Ngorongoro Crater – Arusha

At 6:30 am, you will eat breakfast and then descend into the crater for a game drive. Afterwards, you will drive back to Arusha. Breakfast and lunch will be provided.

Often called the eighth Natural Wonder of the World, the Ngorongoro Crater is the largest intact crater in the world. About two million years ago, the Ngorongoro volcano erupted and its walls collapsed. The volcano floor sank to create a natural enclosure with 600m tall walls. Now at over 19 kilometres wide, the Ngorongoro Crater is filled with great areas of acacia forest, hippo filled swamps and open grasslands. These different habitats contain over 30,000 animals—including elephants, warthogs, flamingoes, magnificent birdlife, the rare black rhinoceros and all the predatory cats. The Maasai can also be seen grazing their cattle alongside the buffalo and wildebeest.
