While on this 4 Days Rwanda Gorilla Trekking & Dian Fossey Hike, You will trek the gorillas and hike to Dian Fossy’s grave.
This is at the Karisoke Research Center on the slopes of the Bisoke Volcano where she spent close to 20 years habituating, studying, and conserving the endangered mountain gorillas.
She was murdered on the 27th of December 1985 at the Karisoke Research Centre and buried near Digit, her favourite gorilla.
This excursion is an incredible experience and very inspiring to learn about someone so dedicated to her work.

Detailed Itinerary
Day 1: Kigali International Airport – Kinigi at the foothills of the Volcanoes
You will be met and greeted at the Kigali International Airport by your driver/guide on your first day of 4 Days Rwanda Gorilla Trekking & Dian Fossey Hike.
Our safari guide will pick you at Kigali International Airport.
Depending on your arrival time, your guide may suggest a Kigali city tour or a visit to the Genocide Memorial Center at Gisozi which is a remarkable place.
You will then continue to Kinigi at the bottom hills of the volcanoes; the landscape is sure to take your breath away.
Main destination: Volcanoes National Park

Day 2: Virunga Volcanoes for Trekking
After breakfast on your second day of 4 Days Rwanda Gorilla Trekking & Dian Fossey Hike, you will depart for the headquarters of the park where your guide will complete the necessary formalities for you.
You will meet your ranger guide(s) for a briefing about the greatest animal experience ever. You will then be driven to the slopes of one of the Virunga Volcanoes for your trekking.
After the trekking, if time allows, have lunch at Ruhengeri and in the afternoon go for an excursion to explore the beautiful Twin lakes in the region (Lake Bulera & Ruhondo).

Day 3: Slopes of the Bisoke Volcano and visit former Karisoke centre
After breakfast on your third day of 4 Days Rwanda Gorilla Trekking & Dian Fossey Hike, you will report to the headquarters for your excursion to slopes of the Bisoke Volcano and pay a visit to the former Karisoke Centre where the grave of Dian Fossey is located.
You will find here fantastic views, lush forested slopes, and an exceptional environment. On the way to the site you will see various animals like buffaloes and elephants.
Karisoke became one of the most successful primate study sites in the world in the 1970s.
For the past three decades, the mountain gorillas of Karisoke Research Center have been the subject of many studies focusing on their behavior and ecology.

Day 4: Volcanoes National Park – Kigali
Today you will be picked up at your hotel and depending on your departure time you will have the opportunity to go on the Kigali city trip if you did not do it on day one of 4 Days Rwanda Gorilla Trekking & Dian Fossey Hike.
In Rwanda you will find genocide memorials all over the country to remember the genocide of 1994. The most important Genocide Memorials are those of Kigali (Gisozi) and Murambi (Gikongoro) where the history of the genocide is explained.
A visit to the genocide memorial is for most visitors an emotional event. Later you will be transferred to the airport to catch your flight for departure.
